Brussels Terror Suspect Stabs Two Police Officers, Killing One, in Schaerbeek Attack

Revelations have been made about the individual who stabbed two police officers in Schaerbeek. According to the public prosecutor’s office, the man, of Moroccan origin according to the Dutch media, was known to the police and was on the radar of the Coordination Body for Threat Analysis (OCAM).
On Thursday evening, a police patrol from the Brussels-North zone, which was in a car stopped at a red light on the Rue d’Aerschot in Schaerbeek, was attacked with a knife by an individual. The perpetrator, Yassine M., stabbed the driver in the neck, before attacking the passenger, shouting "Allah Ouakhbar," reports Belga.
According to the details provided by the federal prosecutor’s office, the driver, Thomas M., aged 29, died from his injuries. The passenger, Jason P., aged 23, was operated on during the night from Thursday to Friday and his life no longer seems to be in danger.
As for the suspect, the same source states that it is Yassine M., a Belgian national born in 1990. The man was apprehended shortly after his crime, thanks to another patrol that came as reinforcement. Injured, he was taken to the emergency room.
The accused is already known to the police for common law offenses and was incarcerated between 2013 and 2019. Furthermore, he is on the OCAM list (radicalization), the federal prosecutor’s office specified.
