Brussels Terror Attack Trial Set for October 2022, Including Paris Attacks Suspect

The defendants in the double attack in Brussels that killed 32 people and injured more than 340 seriously will be tried before the Assize Court in Brussels starting October 10, 2022.
This is what the Brussels Court of Appeal indicated on Wednesday, specifying that the jury will be called upon to rule on the guilt of 10 defendants, among whom are some individuals currently on trial for the Paris attacks, such as Salah Abdeslam.
Specifically, the hearing "will begin on Thursday, October 13, 2022 at 9:00 AM," said Judge Anne Leclercq, spokeswoman for the Brussels Court of Appeal, in a statement cited by Belga.
A preliminary hearing will also be held on September 12 to proceed with the composition of the list of witnesses. While the duration of the trial is not known, the federal prosecutor’s office has already indicated that it could take place over the entire judicial year, until the following summer, in 2023.
For this trial, a thousand people have joined as civil parties, including relatives of victims, injured or traumatized people, and should claim compensation for their damage. Facing them, the defendants will answer for "murders in a terrorist context," it is pointed out.
