Brussels Prosecutor Spotted Supporting Morocco Before World Cup Riots

Yassine Sellika, the Brussels Public Prosecutor, supported Morocco against Belgium in the match that pitted the two countries against each other on Sunday as part of the second day of the group stage of the World Cup in Qatar. He was spotted in a video recorded shortly before the riots that rocked Brussels after Belgium’s defeat.
In the images of Moroccan supporters who committed acts of violence on Sunday and circulating on social media, the one showing the Brussels Public Prosecutor is drawing attention. In the video, a Moroccan supporter is seen approaching a vehicle whose driver was wearing the jersey of the Moroccan national team. The supporter shouts "Public Prosecutor" to the driver who replies "Morocco!".
It is indeed Yassine Sellika, the Brussels Public Prosecutor, according to Sud Info, specifying that this magistrate, known to the general public thanks to the RTL-TVI program "Face au juge", could be in charge of the hearing of people arrested in the context of the riots on Sunday. "I was passing by car. I saw some rather lively supporters, one of them recognized me and I waved to him. I left after that. On Sunday, I do what I want with my family," Yassine Sellika reacted on Monday.
The Belgian authorities feared clashes after the Morocco-Belgium match, regardless of the result. Is it normal for a Belgian prosecutor, even if he is of Moroccan origin, to find himself as a supporter of Morocco, in this crowd of Moroccans who demonstrated in the streets of the Belgian capital?, wonders the same source. Riots broke out in the center of Brussels, as well as in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, Schaerbeek and Anderlecht, after this match which ended in a victory for Morocco over Belgium (2-0).
