Brussels Police Officer Under Investigation for Alleged Assault During World Cup Match

An investigation has been opened in Brussels following a potential case of police violence that would have occurred in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, during the 2022 World Cup semi-final match between Morocco and France.
The incriminating images of this potential police blunder were filmed on the territory of the Brussels-North police zone in Saint-Josse-ten-Noode, the Brussels public prosecutor’s office said, specifying that the incident took place during the night of December 14 to 15, during the football match between France and Morocco.
In the video sequence that has gone viral on social media, a person dressed in black is seen being pushed against the wall of a house by another, reports Belga. The latter appears to be wearing a red police armband and holding what looks like a telescopic baton in his hand.
The victim then received several blows before collapsing to the ground and remaining motionless. The aggressor then moved away as other people approached, the same source points out. The recording has sparked outrage among internet users. Informed, the public prosecutor’s office decided to open an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of this incident.
