Brussels Police Car Speeding Without Siren Before Fatal Collision with Teen, Investigation Reveals

The police car that had hit Mehdi Bouda, a 17-year-old boy, on Ravenstein Street in Brussels, near the central station, on August 20, 2019 was driving at high speed and without the siren activated.
The preliminary results of the ongoing judicial investigation indicate that the police officers had not activated their vehicle, reports Bruzz. Only the blue lights were on, and the car was driving at 98 km/h, according to "a reliable judicial source".
While Mehdi Bouda was fleeing a police patrol and crossing the street on August 20, 2019 on Ravenstein, near the central station, he had been hit by another Brussels-Capital/Ixelles police car en route to the scene of a burglary. He died on the spot around 11:50 pm.
What’s next? Opening of an investigation to determine the actual circumstances of the accident; appointment of a forensic doctor and an automotive expert; seizure of surveillance camera images near the accident site, hearing of witnesses... The investigation into the death of young Mehdi continues.
