Brussels Mother Charged with Daughter’s Murder Remains in Custody

The detention of the mother suspected of murdering her daughter on January 17 in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean has been extended by one month. This is the decision of the Brussels council chamber.
After committing the murder of her 7-year-old daughter, this 39-year-old mother had gone, on January 20, to the municipality of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean, recalls Belga. She had there declared the death of her child to the authorities.
The police were immediately informed of the facts. Then a investigating judge was seized. The judge, the Brussels public prosecutor’s office and an appointed forensic doctor went to the family’s home in Molenbeek-Saint-Jean. Arrived on the spot, they had found that the death of the little girl dated back several days. Beginning of suspicions.
The first results of the autopsy ordered by the investigating judge reveal that it is not a natural death. A toxicological expertise will then be ordered as a complement, to determine the exact cause of the child’s death.
Suspected of infanticide, the mother was placed under arrest warrant and indicted for murder.
