Brussels Mayor Warns Troublemakers Ahead of Morocco-Portugal World Cup Match

Brussels is one of the European cities that has recorded incidents after each of Morocco’s victories in Qatar. In the run-up to Saturday’s match between Morocco and Portugal, counting for the World Cup quarter-finals, Philippe Close, the mayor of Brussels, threatens to crack down in case of public order disturbances.
"If you want to come and party in Brussels, you are welcome, if you come to cause trouble, you will have to deal with the police," the mayor said on RTL INFO. The elected official says he has nothing against the celebrations, as long as they take place with respect and without incidents.
He denounces disturbances that could have been avoided, especially since they were the work of a minority. "We must not put the thousands of supporters who had a positive celebration in the same bag as a few thugs." On Saturday, the city has planned to implement a security system to avoid the unfortunate incidents recorded on November 27, December 1 and 6.
"We will have the same system on Saturday, whether Morocco wins or Portugal wins, because we also have a large Portuguese community. Those who will cause trouble will have to deal with the police," he warned.
