Brussels AI Hub: MolenGeek Expands with Google and Meta Backing

The Belgo-Moroccan Ibrahim Ouassari, CEO of MolenGeek, announced the opening, next June, of a branch in Laeken, with the support of Google, Meta and the city of Brussels.
It will be a business incubator, dedicated to the development of artificial intelligence, as well as spaces for training and events, the promoter said to local media.
The new building will be built on an area of 600 m², reports Belga, adding that it will be erected on the ruins of a former warehouse, bought in 2014 by the City of Brussels.
This creation project, the result of a partnership with the city of Brussels and MolenGeek, benefited from a grant of 150,000 euros to cover personnel costs and the operation of the incubator for the first 12 months, Ouassari said.
The technological ecosystem also has private funding, from the web giants Google and Meta, in the amount of 150,000 euros to enable this opening. Discussions are still ongoing with Actiris and Bruxelles Formation to support the training provided, lasting at least 14 months.
