Brussels Attack Victims to Testify Before Court as Mohamed Abrini Attends

The victims of the Brussels attacks have requested to be heard in the presence of Mohamed Abrini and the other accused. They will give their testimony before the Brussels Assize Court in charge of trying the case.
Mohamed Abrini will attend the testimony of the victims before the Brussels Assize Court in charge of trying the March 22, 2016 attacks in Brussels, Belga reports. This announcement was made this Friday, March 3, 2023 during a hearing before the Brussels Court of Appeal, seized by the Belgian State. The latter had appealed the decision of the summary judge - seized by 6 defendants in the Brussels attacks trial - who had prohibited at the end of December the holding of strip searches with genuflections on the grounds that they constituted degrading treatment and violated the European Convention on Human Rights. The wish of the Belgian State is to reform this decision.
In the eyes of the Belgian State, these strip searches with genuflections are necessary and respond to a security imperative. "As long as the elements inherent to the potential threat remain unchanged, these measures are justified. There is a recurring danger with each transfer," argued Bernard Renson, its lawyer. The Brussels Court of Appeal will deliver a ruling on these searches on Monday, March 13.
