Brussels Airport Passenger Traffic Doubles in 2022, Morocco Emerges as Key Destination

Over the full year 2022, passenger traffic at Brussels Airport has increased sharply, thanks in part to Morocco, one of the most popular destinations for travelers. The number of passengers has almost doubled compared to 2021, but remains nevertheless below the pre-Covid period.
According to the annual figures released by the airport management, 18,930,698 passengers transited through this airport platform in 2022, representing an increase of 102% compared to 2021 (9.4 million passengers), to reach nearly 72% of the 2019 level (26.4 million passengers).
A more than positive result hailed by the CEO of Brussels Airport, Arnaud Feist, who nevertheless mentioned difficulties that slowed growth at the airport level. The manager cited the consequences of Covid in the first half of 2022, but also the repeated strikes during the second half that resulted in an estimated total loss of nearly 100,000 passengers.
These performances were achieved thanks to the ten most important countries of last year, which are: Spain, Italy, Morocco, Germany, Turkey, Greece, Portugal, the United States, France and the United Kingdom, it is pointed out.
