Boar’s Head Left at Moroccan Consulate in Corsica Sparks Hate Crime Investigation

A boar’s head was found in front of the Moroccan consulate in Biguglia, Corsica, on Sunday, August 27, in the early afternoon. Local authorities condemn this act, as does the Moroccan consul Najoua El Berrak.
Arriving quickly on the scene, the police of the departmental directorate of public security (DDSP) carried out the initial investigations, without noting any damage or inscription on the premises. An investigation for "provocation to discrimination and racial hatred" has been opened by the Bastia public prosecutor’s office.
The prefect of Haute-Corse, Michel Prosic, for his part, condemned "with the utmost firmness this unacceptable act". He also expressed his full support for the Moroccan Consul General, Najoua El Berrak, and her team, as well as the Moroccan community in the department.
The consul, Najoua El Berrak, while avoiding further commenting on the ongoing investigation, highlighted the unprecedented nature of this act against the consulate. She also recalls the bonds of friendship that unite the island to the consular representation. For the record, a similar act had occurred in 2017, where a boar’s head had been found in front of a prayer room in L’Ile-Rousse.
