BFMTV Suspends Anchor Amid Probe into Unverified Broadcasts

The continuous news channel BFMTV has launched an internal audit after the broadcast of unverified content during the "Le journal de la nuit" program presented by Franco-Moroccan journalist Rachid M’Barki.
According to Politico, images and statements were broadcast without following the usual validation channels, suggesting one or more influence operations. The channel confirmed that the journalist has been on leave since the beginning of the investigation launched about two weeks ago.
For his part, Rachid M’Barki defended the use of information that came from informants and did not follow the usual editorial process. "They were all real and verified, I’m doing my job. ... I don’t rule anything out, maybe I was fooled, I didn’t have the impression that it was the case or that I was participating in some kind of operation, otherwise I wouldn’t have done it," he also said.
