Belgium to Repatriate Dozens of Children from Syrian Detention Camps

Belgium wants to repatriate between 30 and 50 children of jihadists present in the detention camps in northeastern Syria, in order to prevent "them from becoming the terrorists of tomorrow". This announcement was made by the Prime Minister, Alexander De Croo.
Faced with the catastrophic conditions in the detention camps in Syria, Belgium has decided to "do everything" to repatriate the Belgian children who are there, the Prime Minister announced. MEP Saskia Bricmont has always advocated for these minors, and for two reasons: The first is humanitarian. "They are growing up in an environment without drinking water, without proper food, with all the psychological, psychological but also physical consequences," she explained.
The second is a matter of security. The Kurds have lost control of a camp and "many women are re-radicalizing, returning into the hands of Daesh and therefore it is out of the question that these European children and these mothers too return into the hands of the Islamic state," Saskia Bricmont hammered.
In addition to the children of jihadists, thirteen mothers will also be repatriated. Except that their return will be examined "on a case-by-case basis", as the Belgian justice system has already convicted nine of them and four others are the subject of an international arrest warrant. Belgium has more than 400 jihadists who have joined the Islamic State, many of Moroccan origin.
