Belgium Maintains Mosque Protocols Amid New COVID-19 Restrictions

Faced with the rise in infections due to the coronavirus in Belgium, new restrictive measures have been imposed this Friday, October 23, in sports, cultural events and higher education. In mosques, the Concertation Committee of the Executive of Muslims of Belgium has maintained the same protocol in force until November 19.
Since the establishment of this protocol, mosques have been authorized to accommodate a maximum of 200 worshippers according to the capacity of the place of worship, while respecting the distancing measure between people and hygiene measures, in accordance with the protocol established by the EMB and transmitted to the authorities.
To counter the resurgence of the coronavirus pandemic, the EMB has reiterated the importance of respecting the restrictive measures in force. It has also invited the Muslim community to ensure the rigorous application of the recommendations and decisions issued by the Belgian public authorities during this critical period to preserve public health.
