Belgium Expands COVID-19 Entry Restrictions for Non-EU Travelers, Including Morocco

Faced with concerns raised by the new variants of Covid-19, Belgium has just tightened the entry conditions on its territory for travelers from Morocco and other non-EU countries. Especially those who enter by bus or train.

In a press release, Annelies Verlinden, Minister of the Interior, states that the rules that apply to travelers entering Belgium by plane or boat, from non-EU and non-Schengen countries, are now extended to those traveling by bus or train. According to her explanations, the extension of the measures is specifically aimed at countering the spread to Belgium of potentially more contagious variants of the virus responsible for Covid-19.

From now on, travelers entering by bus or train are required to fill out the "passenger locator form", regardless of the length of stay abroad or planned in Belgium, and to present a negative PCR test. The PCR test is only required for travelers coming from a red zone (non-EU and non-Schengen) such as Morocco and who are not domiciled in Belgium. They must also follow the rules imposing quarantine upon return from a red zone.
