Belgian Security Service Probes Ex-Official’s Alleged Muslim Brotherhood Ties

Submitting her resignation does not mean the end of the troubles for Ihsane Haouach, former government commissioner at the Institute for Equality between Women and Men (IEFH). The State Security has looked into the allegations that she is part of the Muslim Brotherhood and has indicated that it does not have proof in the information gathered that she is a member. Ihsane Haouach, according to several media reports, will be heard this week.
Is Ihsane Haouach a member of the Muslim Brotherhood or not? Le soir has heard about the note from the State Security which does not conclude that she is a member. But there is evidence that she has had contacts with members of the organization, perhaps unexpectedly and without having taken steps to make such a meeting possible.
More specifically, La Libre indicates that the State Security was based on information reported by third parties on the participation of the former government commissioner at the IEFH, in several meetings and other meals organized by associations or others who would have links with the Muslim Brotherhood. But everything is taken with caution, pending the hearing of Ihsane Haouach this week. It will be for her to clarify her position and to be confronted with the partial information contained in the security report.
Let us recall that Ihsane Haouach had announced on Friday evening her resignation, citing the "incessant personal attacks" and the "cyberbullying" of which she claims to be the victim. Sarah Schlitz, the Secretary of State, said she regretted such a decision.
