Belgian Prosecutors Launch Probe into Alleged Moroccan Interference

The Brussels public prosecutor’s office has opened a judicial investigation into possible Moroccan interference in Belgium, according to information from RTBF and Le Soir.
This decision follows a report drawn up at the end of December by the Central Office for the Repression of Corruption (OCRC) reporting the revelations of the RTBF magazine #Investigation last December.
The OCRC report mentions the alleged facts of influence, interference, or even public corruption on the part of the Kingdom of Morocco in Belgium.
The Brussels public prosecutor’s office, seized of the file, has now decided to open an investigation at the information level at the end of March 2024. This procedure will allow investigators to gather evidence and determine whether the alleged facts are proven.
For now, the Brussels public prosecutor’s office refuses to comment on the charges brought in the context of this investigation. The exact nature of the alleged facts and the persons implicated therefore remain to be determined.
