Belgian Prison Escapee Faces Trial for Crimes Committed During Two-Year Run

Mustapha Iken has been appearing since Thursday, September 12 before the Correctional Court of Liège. Escaped from the Lantin prison two years ago, he is being tried for acts committed during his run. The hearing is subject to very strict security measures, given the man’s past.
We are in 2017 when Moustapha Iken escapes from the Lantin prison in Belgium. During his flight, he has given himself several opportunities to disagree with the law.
According to RTL info, he was arrested at the same time as a dozen other defendants who will answer to charges of armed robbery and possession of narcotics and war weapons.
Mustapha Iken is the main defendant. He will have to appear again next November after appealing a 15-year prison sentence for various robberies.
Mathieu Simonis, his lawyer, is saddened by the situation of his client who, according to RTL info, has had only one year of freedom since he was 18 years old. He says he is afraid that his repeated convictions will push him to spend his whole life in prison.
"The question arises as to what we are going to do with this boy, because at his age, given the prospects, I don’t want him to become a second Farid Bamouhammad," he said, revealing all his concern for the case of Moustapha Iken.
