Belgian Princess Maria Laura Weds Franco-Moroccan Fiancé Amid Royal Mourning

The death of Queen Elizabeth II did not prompt the Belgian royal family to postpone the wedding of Princess Maria-Laura to her Franco-Moroccan Prince Charming William Isvy.
As announced, the wedding of Princess Maria Laura and William Isvy will be celebrated this Saturday, September 10, 2022. The civil ceremony will take place in the wedding hall of the Brussels City Hall, in the presence of the immediate family, reports La Dernière Heure. As for the religious ceremony, it will take place in front of a larger audience at 2:30 pm in the Cathedral of Saints Michael and Gudule. Some 500 guests are invited. Due to the ties between the royal family and Queen Elizabeth II, a moment of prayer and reflection will be devoted to the British monarch during the religious celebration. Princess Maria Laura and William Isvy got engaged in December 2021. The two lovebirds met in 2015 in London.
Princess Maria Laura of Belgium is the daughter of Princess Astrid - the eldest daughter of King Albert II - and her husband Prince Lorenz, head of the House of Austria-Este. Little Maria grew up in Basel, Switzerland, until the age of five when her father worked for an international bank. She studied at the Collège St. John Berchmans in Brussels and John’s International School in Waterloo. In Paris, Princess Maria Laura studied Chinese and international relations at the Institute of Oriental Languages. In 2012, she flew to Shanghai, after doing an internship in New York. She works in the private sector there.
Born in Paris to a British mother and a Franco-Moroccan father, William Isvy is a British investment banker. He spent most of his childhood in London. After obtaining his baccalaureate at the Lycée Français Charles de Gaulle, he pursued higher education at McGill University in Montreal where he earned a finance degree. After his studies, he worked in mergers and acquisitions for an American investment bank and now works in asset management.
