Belgian Politicians Propose Cutting Benefits for Soccer Riot Offenders

The riots recorded after the match between Morocco and Belgium continue to provoke reactions within the Belgian political class. The Mouvement Réformateur (MR) proposes a plan to discourage such excesses.
Called "security justice", the plan presented by the liberal party proposes that the incidents of last November 27 should not go unpunished. "We must break the rioters," said MP Denis Ducarme. "We must hit them where it hurts..."
Surrounded by MPs Denis Ducarme, Caroline Taquin, David Leisterh, Minister Valérie Glatigny, the mayor of Uccle Boris Dilliès, Georges-Louis Bouchez emphasizes that the MR proposes the suspension of social benefits received by some repeat offender rioters. "It is logical that the means used by the State are no longer allocated to parents who have failed in the management of their children," explains the president of the MR.
In addition to this social measure, the MR proposes sanctions to punish the non-respect of the flag, the prohibition of certain demonstrations. The party believes that the Penal Code should be amended to include, as in France, "a system of immediate appearance".
