Belgian Muslims Prepare for Eid al-Adha Amid Ritual Slaughter Regulations

The Executive of Muslims of Belgium (EMB) announced that Eid al-Adha will take place this year on July 9, recalling the rules in force regarding ritual slaughter in each region.
The Muslim community in Belgium is therefore set on the feast of sacrifice, reports Belga. However, due to the controversy surrounding the slaughter of animals, the EMB has recalled in a press release the rules in force regarding ritual slaughter in the different regions of the country.
Thus in the Flemish and Walloon Regions, the regulations in force have required stunning for all slaughter since 2019. In Brussels, the authorities have opted for ritual slaughter without stunning, the organization pointed out.
No temporary or approved slaughter site is offered to individuals as part of the Feast of Sacrifice, and this in the 3 regions. Consequently, each Muslim is invited to contact his usual butcher to inquire about the possible options as part of the Feast of Sacrifice 2022, concludes the note.
