Belgian Muslims to Celebrate Eid al-Fitr on May 24, Marking End of Ramadan

The date of Eid al-Fitr is known in Belgium. This is what the Executive of Muslims of Belgium (EMB) has just indicated after a meeting this Friday, May 22 in Brussels.
"Following the meeting of the Council of Theologians today by videoconference, the Executive of Muslims of Belgium (EMB) is pleased to announce to the Muslims of Belgium that the first day of the month of Shawwal 1441 corresponds to Sunday, May 24, 2020, the day of "Eid Al Fitr", marking the end of the month of Ramadan for the Muslim community in our country," the EMB said in a statement.
"On this occasion, the EMB extends its best wishes for peace, health, happiness and prosperity to citizens of the Muslim faith and of all other beliefs," it added.
Although Eid is usually an occasion for family gatherings, the EMB nevertheless reminds of certain rules put in place by the Government in this particular context of the coronavirus pandemic.
Although a household can accommodate a maximum of four people, always the same, it is essential to maintain certain essential measures such as social distancing. There is also a need to pay particular attention to the elderly, the sick or the vulnerable.
The EMB also expresses solidarity with all those who will celebrate Eid without being able to be surrounded by their loved ones.
