Belgian Muslim Council Announces Eid al-Adha 2025 Date: June 6

The date is now known to Muslims in Belgium. The Feast of Sacrifice, or Eid al-Adha, will be held this year on Friday, June 6. The Muslim Council of Belgium (CMB) made the official announcement through a press release, thus setting one of the most important dates in the Islamic calendar.
Considered the major religious festival of Islam, Eid al-Adha (or Eid el-Kebir) commemorates, according to tradition, the submission and devotion of the prophet Abraham. This event coincides each year with the period of Hajj, the great annual pilgrimage to Mecca that brings together millions of faithful from around the world. As the CMB reminds us, this festival is a strong symbol of "devotion, submission to God and solidarity". It is a special time for prayer, family sharing, but also for supporting the most deprived.
The announcement comes from the Muslim Council of Belgium, the body that currently represents the Muslim faith to Belgian authorities. Established in 2023 to take over from the Executive of Muslims (EMB), the CMB is currently operating under a temporary approval. This approval, lasting two years, is due to expire at the end of June, raising the question of the permanence of its recognition.
