Belgian Mosques Reinstate Mask Mandate Amid Rising COVID-19 Cases

The Executive of Muslims of Belgium (EMB) has announced to Belgian citizens of Muslim faith that it is mandatory to wear a mask in mosques again.
This measure comes following the strengthening of health measures against Covid-19 in Belgium decided by the Belgian authorities, specifies a press release from the EMB, adding that Muslims are asked to comply in order to limit the rise in contaminations and preserve public health.
In addition to the mandatory wearing of masks, other complementary measures are reminded to the faithful. These are:
• Leave the mosque immediately after the end of the prayer
• Come to the mosque in a state of ablution
• Disinfect your hands when entering and leaving the mosque
• Bring your own personal and individual prayer mat
• Mosques welcome up to 200 worshippers inside and 400 people outside the building (children under twelve, the minister of worship and stewards not included)
• Social distancing must be respected (1.5 meters between each group of 8 people)
