Belgian-Moroccan Singer Loses License for Dangerous Tunnel Video Stunt

The Antwerp singer of Moroccan origin, Jamilla Baidou, was sentenced on Monday by the Sint-Niklaas police court to a one-year driving ban for having parked her car in the Liefkenshoek tunnel in 2022 to make videos in the middle of the night.
In addition to the one-year driving ban, the YouTuber was declared "permanently physically and mentally unfit to drive a car". A sentence she considers too severe. "I would agree with a one-year driving ban, but this year only starts after proving that I am ’of sound mind’," reacted Jamila Baidou in a video on YouTube.
And to continue: "When we know that other people who have committed much worse acts receive lighter sentences, I find this exaggerated." The Antwerp singer compares her sentence to that of Sofiane Kiyine, the Belgian-Moroccan from OH Leuven who was sentenced to a suspended sentence for drunk driving and a speed of 138 km/h, causing a spectacular accident in Flemalle on March 30, 2023.
The YouTuber of Moroccan origin also denounced the treatment she received in the press. "I’m being portrayed as a psychopath," said Baidou, arguing that this "verdict affects my work, my social life and my mental health." The Antwerp woman concluded with this advice: "When you drive, don’t do stupid things like me. If you don’t want to be in the shit for two years, respect the rules."
