Belgian-Moroccan Muslim Preacher Rachid Haddach Dies at 49

The Belgian Muslim community is in mourning. The Belgian-Moroccan preacher, teacher and lecturer Rachid Haddach passed away on Sunday evening from an illness at the age of 49.
Volunteer preacher in several schools and mosques, Rachid Haddach collaborated with young people, says Salah Echallaoui, president of the Academy of Islamic Studies Training and Research.
According to the head of the Academy, Echalloui, the deceased was sometimes categorized as a Salafist during his lifetime. According to him, Rachid Haddach was rather active as a teacher since 2008 "in the Brussels schools where he worked and helped a lot in guiding young people against radicalization".
"I can say that he did effective work. He was a moral authority, it is a great loss for these schools," testifies the inspector and president of the Academy of Islamic Studies Training and Research.
In addition, a funeral prayer is scheduled for this Monday, February 3, after the noon prayer at the Khalil Mosque in Molenbeek.
