Belgian Minister Faces Backlash Over Haircut Amid Salon Closures

Meryame Kitir, Belgian federal minister for Development Cooperation, was present during a television program on Canvas, where she had come to talk about vaccination against the coronavirus in poor countries. But it was especially her impeccable haircut that marked the viewers.
Many people, surprised by the perfect cut of the young minister of Moroccan origin, suspected a visit to the hairdresser before the show, while all hairdressing salons in Belgium have been closed for several weeks to fight the pandemic.
The decision to close the hairdressing salons was made two months ago, after the publication of a report showing that hairdressers and beauticians were more often affected by covid-19 than other professions. For this reason, they will remain closed at least until May 20.
Meryame Kitir, who usually wears a very short haircut, has therefore decided to take matters into her own hands and shave her hair. The result was successful but not perfect, as she shows in a short video posted on social media. "Practice makes perfect, but my hairdresser is still the best. I hope I can see her again soon," commented the minister from the SPA party. A nice way to silence her critics.
