Belgian Jury Convicts Two Men in Fatal 2018 Stabbing of Moroccan National

Moroccans Brahim Cherabi, 30, and Younis Bahou, 25, were found guilty of the murder of their compatriot Rachid Moumen, 36, who was stabbed in the chest on June 6, 2018 in Bressoux (Liège). The trial continues on Monday, January 31, 2022.
The jurors of the Liège Assize Court found Brahim Cherabi and Younis Bahou guilty of voluntary assault and battery causing death without intent to do so and with premeditation, as well as illegal possession of a weapon, reports Belga. According to them, the two Moroccans accused of having murdered their compatriot Rachid Moumen on June 6, 2018 in the Bressoux neighborhood (Liège) were waiting for the victim at the scene of the attack because a meeting had been set for him. However, the jury states that they had not planned his murder, as only one knife blow had been dealt to Rachid. The jurors also retained the premeditation of the facts because the two accused had consulted each other before the attack.
Born in Fès, Morocco, Brahim Cherabi and Younis Bahou are cousins. At 18, the former illegally immigrated to Europe in 2006, where he married in 2015. He is the father of three children. The latter illegally arrived in Belgium in 2015, where he joined the former, who earned his living by trafficking migrants.
The two accused will be informed of the sentence imposed on them on Monday, January 31, 2022.
