Originally from Vilvoorde, Noura Firoud, 24, was intercepted in Turkey, reports Wednesday De Morgen citing several sources. The young woman, who arrived in Syria at the age of 17 in 2013, joined the terrorist group known as the Islamic State (IS).
In the past, the press reported on her presence in a prisoner camp in Syria, without further details.
She presented herself to the Turkish authorities with her three children aged six, five and three, in August, the daily reports.
The Belgian authorities have not yet been officially informed by Turkey, which also does not say whether the young woman is currently detained on its territory, and accompanied by her children, since in Turkey, in principle, only children under three years old accompany their detained mothers.
