Belgian Father Sentenced in Morocco for Child Molestation Amid Custody Dispute

While he had gone to Morocco at the end of November 2021 to find his son "kidnapped" in Belgium by his ex-wife of Moroccan origin, a 57-year-old Belgian was arrested and then sentenced last Wednesday to three years in prison.
Arrested in Meknes on December 6, Marc M. was incarcerated in the Toulal 2 prison. His arrest followed a complaint filed against him by his ex-in-laws. They accused him of rape and indecent assault on a minor. The Meknes court acquitted him of rape but sentenced him to three years in prison for indecent assault on a minor, reports La Dernière Heure.
Last year, his ex-wife had, by default, received a one-year prison sentence for non-presentation of a child. She had left Belgium in February 2021 with their son, Malik. Without news of the child, Marc had gone to Morocco to find him. That’s when he fell, according to his lawyer, Mehdi Abbes, into a "trap" set by his ex-wife’s family.
