Belgian Court Sentences 12 in Major Drug Trafficking Ring, Including Moroccan Nationals

Twelve individuals, including Moroccans, members of a drug trafficking network, have been sentenced by the Court of First Instance in Liège.
The twelve traffickers, including Moroccans, were sentenced to prison terms ranging from three to six years. Other suspects were also sentenced to sentences ranging from 7 to 30 months, according to the local police in a press release published on Thursday.

This court decision follows an investigation conducted by the Narcotics Section of the Judicial Brigade of the Liège Police Zone, which had led to the arrest of some suspects last November and the seizure of 1.5 kg of cocaine, 22,700 euros, 8 computers, 8 bicycles, 4 televisions, 1 pistol and 67 mobile phones, reports RTL. The Liège police continued the investigations, leading to other arrests last spring.
"A lucrative drug trafficking that had ramifications in Morocco and Spain has been thwarted. It was taking place in the Sainte-Marguerite neighborhood. The Liège police were able to assess the daily sales volume (up to 100 grams of cocaine), the sales locations and the modus operandi of this trafficking," the police said in their statement.
