Belgian-Algerian Group Leads Aid Effort for Morocco Earthquake Victims

In the wake of the devastating earthquake that struck Morocco in the night of September 8, killing nearly 3,000 people, the Algerian association of Mons-Borinage (Belgium) quickly mobilized to show its solidarity with the victims.
In the first hours following this tragedy, the association began collecting clothes, food, tents, hygiene and medical supplies, etc. to assist the victims. All these donations stored in the "Chez Nous" premises in Blaugies were then transported in six trucks to Morocco, reports Sud Info. "We had already helped the Turks, the Syrians... during previous disasters. It was our duty to support our brothers in Morocco," said Mohammed Kerai, the president of the association.
The third-year primary school children of the communal school of the royal athénée of Dour also wanted to express their solidarity with the victims of the earthquake in Morocco by making drawings for them. The children of the communal schools of the Alliance and the Foyer Moderne in Boussu, for their part, collected food for the good cause.
