Ayyoub Bouaddi Manchester City 100 Million Euro Transfer Risk

Ayyoub Bouaddi continues to shake up the transfer market following his performances with Morocco at the 2026 World Cup. The Lille midfielder has reportedly attracted Manchester City, but also Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool.

The Manchester club now appears best positioned to recruit the 18-year-old player, in a deal that could exceed 85 million pounds, or approximately 100 million euros.

This spending would come just weeks after the recruitment of Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest for 116 million pounds. A new massive investment that raises questions for Stefan Borson, former financial advisor to Manchester City.

"If Manchester City buys Bouaddi for 100 million euros, given his age and experience, it’s an extraordinary transfer," he explained to Football Insider.

A price that leaves no room for error

Stefan Borson considers Bouaddi a player with greater potential than Elliot Anderson, but also a much more uncertain bet. The young Moroccan has not yet played in the Premier League and will need to adapt to a new league, a new country and considerable pressure.

At this price, he believes, Bouaddi should quickly become one of the best players in the world. "When you buy an 18-year-old player for 100 million euros, he must become one of the best in the coming years," warns the former advisor.

Elliot Anderson presents, according to him, more immediate guarantees thanks to his two full seasons in the Premier League, his experience with England and his performances during the World Cup. Bouaddi would have greater room for improvement.

Manchester City should also sell several players to balance its spending. The free departures of Bernardo Silva and John Stones have eased the wage bill, but generated no transfer fees.

Savinho could instead join Tottenham for a sum that could reach 65 million pounds. This sale would provide the club with part of the necessary funds to finance Bouaddi’s arrival.

City could also consider recruiting the Moroccan before loaning him temporarily to Lille to continue his development. No agreement has yet been announced between the different parties.
