Armed Suspect Arrested at Grenoble Train Station After Shouting Threats

The Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC) proceeded, on Sunday, October 27, 2019, at the Grenoble train station, to the arrest of a 19-year-old Algerian. Armed with two kitchen knives, he was constantly shouting: "Allahu akbar".
According to the Grenoble Public Prosecutor, Éric Vaillant, the arrest of the defendant, born in 2000 in Algeria, took place at 10:20 am after the elements of the Grenoble Anti-Crime Brigade (BAC) were alerted at 10 am.
When they arrived on the scene, the Grenoble police officers were confronted with the young man’s categorical refusal to throw his knives to the ground. Worse, the defendant threatened a police officer, shouted "Allahu akbar" several times, before the BAC managed to subdue and arrest him.
Immediately, he was placed in police custody but this was lifted by the doctor. And for good reason, his state of health was, according to Éric Vaillant, incompatible with this measure. He will therefore be admitted to a psychiatric hospital.
For now, the Grenoble Departmental Security is conducting an investigation on the instructions of the Prosecutor’s Office.
