Armed Robbery Trial Begins for Juvenile Suspects in French Supermarket Heists

The case of armed robberies committed in Trans-en-Provence and Roquebrune-sur-Argens is being heard before the juvenile assize court of the Var. The victims are taking the stand.

The juvenile assize court of the Var has revisited this case that dates back to 2017, reports Var-matin. The testimonies of the victims and witnesses were heard and the surveillance camera footage was viewed.

The facts. On April 27, 2017, the manager of the Aldi store in Trans-en-Provence had received a punch in the stomach and suffered eight days of incapacity to work. One of the accused had ordered her to open her safe. Sitting at her cash register, a cashier had found the second robber’s gun pressed against her temple. She will suffer twelve days of incapacity due to bruises to the chest and face, a cervical sprain and a scalp wound.

Simon admitted that he was the author of this violence during his appearance. Florent also admitted that he had threatened to kill a cashier on April 28, 2017, at the Lidl store in Roquebrune-sur-Argens, the same source specifies.

Hassen El Hamami, a young Moroccan, is also cited in this case of armed robberies. On the run, he is the subject of an arrest warrant. On January 18, 2018, El Hamami and Grégory Wattelet had been indicted for complicity in armed robberies. He will be released under judicial supervision, with a ban on leaving the PACA region. Also, he was to report weekly to the gendarmerie of Les Arcs. After November 24, 2019, he disappears from the radar, passes through the Andalusian port of Almeria, in a car boarding, bound for Morocco, with two other men.
