Antwerp Rocked by Late-Night Explosion, Drug Gang Suspected

A violent explosion shook Antwerp on the night of Saturday to Sunday, causing considerable material damage and leaving one person slightly injured. The local police quickly communicated on the events and the suspicions are directed towards the mocro mafia.
The incident occurred around 3 a.m., near the Franklin Roosevelt square. One person was slightly injured by glass shards.
Several buildings were affected by the explosion, which took place in four streets. However, the damage is essentially made up of glass debris. The residence that would have been targeted by the explosion is severely damaged. In addition, five vehicles also suffered damage.
The firefighters intervened quickly and erected a large security perimeter to protect the residents.
Several people left their homes as a precaution, while residents were asked not to return due to the risk of injury from glass debris.
The authorities have opened an investigation and the laboratory and the army’s explosive ordnance disposal service (Sedee) have been mobilized on site. Suspicions are focused on the drug environment, even if nothing allows it to be affirmed with certainty.
