Antwerp Drug Trafficking: Uncle of Slain Girl Sentenced to 8 Years

The Antwerp Criminal Court sentenced Younes E. B., 28, known as "El Magico", to 8 years in prison for cocaine trafficking. The accused is the uncle of Ferdaous, the 11-year-old girl killed last Monday in a shootout between drug traffickers in Merksem.
Younes, the younger brother of the alleged drug baron Othman Borgerhout, and uncle of Ferdaous, was convicted of illegally bringing cocaine into the port of Antwerp. Younes, known as El Magico, was kidnapped in 2016 by French criminals who demanded money from his older brother Othman. In February 2021, he tried to introduce cocaine into Belgium. Exchanges with his accomplices via the Sky ECC messaging service were intercepted, reports HLN.
Zouhair L., 28, and the port employee, Mara D. S., 35, were also convicted for their role in this failed cocaine transport operation of 771 kilos in a container. The drug was seized by Belgian customs. Ferdaous, El Magico’s niece, 11 years old, was killed a few days ago in her home in Merksem. The family home was targeted by unknown individuals. The girl was repatriated on Friday to Morocco where she was buried.
