Antwerp Drug Kingpin Omar G. Arrested in Dubai, Belgium May Seek Extradition
Former kickboxer Omar G., also an Antwerp drug baron, was arrested in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, at the beginning of the week. Belgium could request his extradition.
Two hypotheses have been put forward on the arrest of Omar G. in Dubai. The great Antwerp criminal would have been arrested following a fight with two other Antwerp residents in the vicinity of a house belonging to the latter, reports la Gazet van Antwerpen. His arrest would be the result of a theft of luxury watches. The Antwerp drug baron was therefore not arrested at the request of the Antwerp police and judicial authorities. However, they could request his extradition.
Belgium had, through Justice Minister Vincent Van Quickenborne (Open Vld), signed an extradition agreement with the United Arab Emirates last December.
