Animal Abuse Uncovered at Belgian Koranic School Farm, Dozens Rescued

Following an inspection carried out in a "pedagogical farm", run by the Saint-Denis Koranic school in Forest, the Brussels police proceeded on Tuesday, November 10 in the early evening, to the confiscation of all the animals. Five shelters took charge of dozens of animals imprisoned in deplorable conditions, at the request of the Bruxelles-midi police zone.
In total, about thirty animals including ponies, alpacas, poultry, ostriches, rheas, maras, a goat, or even great horned owls and others, who lived in deplorable conditions, even though their detention is prohibited, reports Sud info.
The animals were cramped, trapped between a high wall and kennel grids, wading in a mixture of urine, excrement and mud. The professional and volunteer caregivers of the shelters were surprised by the unsanitary environment in which the animals lived. "Even in the worst circuses, still authorized a few years ago in Belgium, I have never seen such pitiful conditions of detention for exotic animals. Calling this a pedagogical farm is completely implausible," indignantly said Jean-Marc Montegnies, president of Animaux en péril.
The rescue teams loaded the animals, which were then placed in various locations in Wallonia. The survivors thus discovered a new, clean and suitable environment, benefiting from the kindness of the caregivers.
Help Animals, Animaux en péril, Le Rêve d’Aby and Equichance believe that the competent control bodies for education will pay more attention to this establishment and prevent such disastrous projects in the future. The file will be forwarded to Bruxelles Environnement. The authority has sixty days to decide on the final destination of the animals, concludes the same source.
