Algerian Singer Cheb Bilal Clarifies Comments on Moroccan Nationality Amid Backlash

Following a boycott campaign launched by Moroccans, Algerian singer Cheb Bilal has sought to clarify his remarks on Moroccan nationality.
In a video posted on his Instagram account, the artist states that his statements were not intended to offend the Moroccan people. He explains that his intention was rather to show that Moroccan nationality would not bring him any additional advantage, given the warm welcome he already receives in Morocco.
"May God bless the people of Morocco with goodness," the singer said in his video, praising the hospitality of Moroccans and his popularity in the kingdom. He emphasizes that this popularity earns him many invitations to artistic events.
Cheb Bilal apologized for any misunderstanding caused by his remarks, stating that they were misinterpreted. "It is impossible that my friends are Moroccans and that I insult their country," he added.
