Algerian Envoy Accuses Morocco of 'Dirty War' and Espionage Against Neighbors

The Algerian Special Envoy, in charge of the Western Sahara issue and the Maghreb countries, Amar Belani, stated on Wednesday that Morocco continues to wage a "dirty war" on neighboring countries, in violation of "international conventions and virtuous practices governing interstate relations".

In a statement to the official agency APS, the Algerian diplomat described as "immoral" the means used "without remorse" by Morocco in the "dirty war" it is waging on neighboring countries, alluding to the migratory pressure on Spain, espionage using the Pegasus software, "indirect threats linked to the possible reactivation of dormant terrorist cells in certain European countries as well as political, financial and logistical support for Algerian terrorist groups".

Amar Belani also condemned the alleged physical and sexual violence suffered by the Sahrawi activist, Sultana Khaya, and all the abuses inflicted on Sahrawi activists by Morocco, which, he said, have been denounced by international human rights NGOs. "The latest international reports lay bare the desperate attempts of the institutional Makhzen to mask the various forms of blind repression that afflict innocent Sahrawi activists," he explained.

The Algerian special envoy also mentioned Morocco’s "reprehensible behavior" regarding the Sahara, this "systematic tendency" it has to "distort, falsify and decontextualize, in a biased and dishonest manner, the statements attributed to foreign political leaders on the Western Sahara issue".

And he concluded: "This premeditated and planned work of disinformation and manipulation is oriented within the framework of a division of labor, by involving a large number of well-paid media serfs by the Moroccan government, to tarnish and sully the image of Algeria and try to harm its international action".
