Algeria Imports 500,000 Protective Masks from Morocco Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

African and European countries such as Algeria, Mauritania, France and Germany have imported protective masks from Morocco in these times of covid-19.
While the case of Algeria had been denied, data from the Moroccan Ministry of Industry and Trade indicate that Algiers had indeed imported half a million Moroccan masks, writes Maghreb Intelligence.
With 800,000 masks purchased in Morocco, Mauritania is the leading African customer of the Moroccan textile industry, followed by Algeria (500,000). Senegal closes the podium with 10,000 Moroccan masks imported.
But Europe is the continent that has bought the most masks from Morocco. France is in first place in the ranking with 6.2 million Moroccan masks purchased, followed by Portugal (5.2 million), Spain (2.7 million), Italy and Germany with respectively 1.7 and 1 million masks.
In Morocco, the volume of mask exports - including those made of woven cotton - authorized is close to 18.5 million masks to 11 countries, which represents 77% of the volume.
Since the start of the health crisis, the kingdom has produced 240 million woven cotton masks and 38.7 million non-woven masks. Its daily production capacity is 12.5 million units.
