Air France Resumes Limited African Routes, Morocco Excluded

The French airline, after resuming its activities, has planned flights to Africa. While its network in Africa should open up more widely next month, after the lifting of travel restrictions, Morocco will not be able to welcome any flights from this company.
In addition to European, Asian and American routes, the French company Air France currently only allows bookings in May and June on its Africa network to Dakar and Cotonou, reports Air Journal.
In a press release published on May 13, 2020, the company recalled that Air France’s "activity is now focused on exceptional repatriation flight operations. They also involve the execution of a minimum flight program equivalent to approximately 5% of the usual capacity offered".
According to the company, it is working "with the French and local authorities to adapt our flight program in real time, taking into account the evolution of the situation and the new restrictions imposed on airlines". "To date, and for the months of May and June, on the Africa network, only the destinations of Dakar and Cotonou remain open for sale, with 2 flights per week to Dakar on Tuesdays and Sundays and 1 flight per week to Cotonou on Wednesdays," it said.
Furthermore, the company announces that the African continent should welcome more planes from the SkyTeam alliance company next month.
While Air France will be much more present in Africa, it will only be able to operate flights to the Maghreb to ensure the repatriation of French people stranded in Morocco, Algeria, etc., as promised by Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian on Tuesday before deputies. According to the minister, there are still "French people, residing in France but spending time in Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia during the year. They are currently in difficulty and we have decided to increase the number of flights by the national company Air France to allow their return". For now, no regular flights are announced to the Maghreb, let alone to Morocco.
