Air France Ends Special Fares for Repatriation Flights, Regular Pricing Resumes
Tuesday 12 May 2020, by
Air France announced on Sunday, May 10, the end of its "special and capped fares" used for the repatriation operations of French and dual nationals stranded abroad due to covid-19.
These fares, intended to "allow the return of French people abroad on all our flights to France", are being discontinued, the airline said. As a result, "the usual pricing applies [from now on], but with tickets modifiable free of charge", Air France said.
Since Monday, the French company has been operating a daily flight between Algeria and France to allow the repatriation of a large number of people stranded on Algerian soil. Dual nationals and holders of residence permits in France are affected by these repatriation operations. As for visa holders, they are not affected due to the closure of borders.
No more bookings via SMS. This system has been temporarily suspended. "Due to the very large number of booking requests received and being processed, the SMS registration service is temporarily suspended by Air France, pending the imminent restoration of an online booking system".
