African Migrants Rescue Drowning Homeless Man in French River

While they witnessed a drowning scene at the level of the Mayenne bridge on October 19, four African migrants jumped in to save the life of a homeless person.
"It was near the Tourist Office. I was coming back from Notre-Dame to go towards the Saint-Martin district. At the time, I couldn’t really make out what it was. I saw a dark mass with hands. As I approached, I saw that it was a man who was drowning in the Mayenne!" recounts Isabelle.
Four migrants were also witnesses to this scene. According to the young woman, they were sitting on a bench below the bridge when they saw the scene. Immediately, they came to the aid of the homeless person. Their action bore fruit: they managed to retrieve him and bring him back to the bank.
Shortly afterwards, the young woman had alerted the firefighters. On their arrival, they took care of the homeless person and transferred him to the Mayenne hospital for mild hypothermia.
"It is a very courageous act on their part. They did not hesitate for a second to come to the aid of this homeless person who had fallen into the water," praised Jean-Pierre Le Scornet, an elected official in Mayenne.
