Achraf Hakimi breaks his silence after Morocco's defeat

Achraf Hakimi has broken his silence after the final of the Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco. The full-back of the Atlas Lions has shared a message on his social media to, in his own words, speak from the heart after days spent trying to assimilate the recent events.

The Moroccan international took the opportunity to salute the organization of the competition by addressing his thanks to King Mohammed VI. He considers that the work accomplished has made this Africa Cup of Nations undoubtedly the best in history. He also expressed his gratitude to the president of the federation, Fouzi Lekjaa, for his total commitment and constant support to the national team at every stage of the journey.

Addressing the public directly, the framework of the selection stressed the crucial importance of the Moroccan supporters present throughout the tournament. He described them as the twelfth man of the team, specifying that they were a force when the legs were heavy and the heart was hurting. This support was felt by the players both in Morocco and in every corner of the world where the diaspora resides.

Achraf Hakimi also paid tribute to the coach Walid Regragui as well as all his teammates for the sacrifices made. He mentioned the 35 days of community life marked by constant efforts, discipline and unity. According to him, this group has shown the world that Morocco is not content to just participate but that Morocco now inspires, thus reflecting the image of a nation that is moving forward with confidence among the great football nations.

The defender concluded by stating that this experience constitutes a solid foundation for the future of the selection. He believes that the values of respect, humility and self-sacrifice carried during the tournament will allow them to reach new goals. Convinced that the future is promising, he assured that Morocco will continue to move forward with its head held high with the ambition to build on what has been sown today.
