Acciona Bids €30 Million for Moroccan Desalination Plant Amid Abengoa Bankruptcy

Acciona has submitted an offer to buy the Agadir desalination plant in Morocco. The Danish giant Arnold Peter Møller and Técnicas Reunidas have also expressed interest in this plant built and operated by Abengoa, which is bankrupt.

The judge will examine all the offers in an attempt to save Abengoa from bankruptcy. The company’s board of directors has chosen Urbas as the best offer and has presented its file to the judge who has nevertheless opened a period to allow other investors to submit their takeover bids for the firm to preserve its more than 9,000 jobs and its headquarters in Seville. This is how the companies RCP, Ultramar and Cox Energy have submitted their offers, reports Cinco Dias.

But in addition to these 100% offers, other companies have opted for partial buyouts. This is the case of Acciona, which is only interested in the desalination plant of the Andalusian group, located in Agadir. Acciona offers around 30 million euros to buy this site and particularly appreciates the 30-year concession period granted to Abengoa in June. The Danish giant Arnold Peter Møller and Técnicas Reunidas have also submitted an offer for this same desalination plant.

All the investors who have submitted an offer to save Abengoa from bankruptcy now have a deadline of five working days to provide all the necessary documentation to the court. They will also have three days to improve their proposals before the judge selects the best offer, in collaboration with the judicial administrator.
