Moroccan Surgeon Denies Knowledge of Patient Exploitation in Cosmetic Surgery Scandal

Dr. Hassan Tazi, who still claims his innocence, is trying to get out of trouble. In a statement to the investigators, he assured that he did not know that needy patients were photographed, and that their images were used for financial purposes, because his work was only carried out in the diagnostic room and in the operating room of the cosmetic surgery, reports the Arabic-language newspaper Al Ahdath Al Maghribia. He explained that it was his brother, Abderreazak Tazi, who was in charge of the administrative tasks and contacts with the patients. As for his wife (M.B.), he was keen to specify that she held the position of financial director and therefore handled the financial files of the clinic. These statements are completely denied by her. During her interrogation, she affirmed that her husband was aware of all the activities of the clinic. She added that all the decisions she made with her brother received the prior approval of the boss of the clinic, El Hassan Tazi.

Zineb B., a recruiter hired for her ability to convince and collect donations, is ranked second in the order of criminal responsibility in this case. She stated that she had met Dr. Hassan Tazi and had met him several times in the company of his brother Abderrazak. She also said that the latter provided her with a smartphone to be in contact with the clinic and gave her permission to consult the patients’ files to collect donations from benefactors. But the famous Casablanca surgeon denied any relationship with the accused. He claimed to have known her during a fleeting visit to his office and that he was far from imagining that the clinic management was providing her with files and photos of patients. Dr. Hassan Tazi also stated that he was only aware of the help she provided to the needy patients.
