Moroccan-Dutch Stylist Laila Aziz Becomes Hollywood Fashion Favorite

Born in the Netherlands to parents from Tangier, Laila Aziz developed an interest in fashion from a very young age. A passion she had to put on hold, the time to finish her higher education, as required by her parents, recalls the MAP.

After her law studies in the Netherlands, she enrolled in a fashion design program. Passionate about fashion, she did not take long to rub shoulders with success, a first time on the red carpets of the Grammy Awards in 2006, wearing one of her creations. "Everyone was asking me who the designer was who had created my outfit. That encouraged me to pursue this path," she confides to Forbes magazine.

Two years later, the wife of Moroccan singer RedOne alias Nadir Khayat has not stopped being in demand by the big names in show business to the point where she has made herself a private clientele in Morocco, Los Angeles or even Dubai. She says that the uniqueness of her creations lies in the fact that she draws her inspiration from her many travels and her love of art. And in each of Kayat’s collections, you can find the country that inspired her. "It’s her trademark," says Forbes magazine. Kayat’s creations and collections can be found in showrooms in Los Angeles, Dubai and Morocco. She also plans to reconquer Paris.

With the global health crisis, she has turned to ready-to-wear to make up for the lack of events. Laila Aziz has also decided to open a lifestyle and interior design store in Dubai. "Sometimes things don’t work out the way you want them to, and you have to know how to bounce back and get back on track, even if it means completely reinventing yourself," confides the Moroccan stylist, who, always in search of innovation, does not hesitate to propel her creations into new universes.
