Mexican Pilot Jailed After Helicopter Crash Near Tangier, Cleared of Drug Charges

The helicopter of the Mexican national, initially suspected of cocaine trafficking, was flying at low altitude when it crashed on the Sefsafa douar in the suburbs of Tangier, causing a general state of alert in the region.
Prosecuted for violating Moroccan airspace, the individual was acquitted of the charge of cocaine trafficking previously brought against him, for lack of incriminating evidence.
The region is well known for drug trafficking by helicopter. Several wrecks have been discovered by the police in the suburbs of Tangier and Tetouan.
